Tabbasum Shaikh “I am Tabbasum Shaikh. I came from a rural village in the remote area. I grew up in a poor family as normal girl with a lot of dreams most of which were never fulfilled. But training with SSEN changed me and my life, now I am responsible for fulfilling my own dreams.” Our family of 6 were mainly depended on farming for income. At a very young age I realized that I needed to do something to bring my family out of poverty. However in spite of completing my education for a long time I did not get a job. Today I am independent. I not only support my family but also pay for the education of my brothe. Today I am capable of fulfilling not only my dreams but that of my family also. Now in the village all other girls look up to me, including those relatives who objected my undertaking training. Then one day the SSEN team came to our village for mobilization. That was the first time that I had heard skills training. I decide that I needed to join the training even though most of my relatives were totally against of my decision. I am the reciepient of the grooming award from Shoppers stop. I was also elected as a CCA ( Customer Care Associate ) after which I was offered the cashiers post. I am very thankful to SSEN who identified abilities in me and selected me for the training, believing in me, when not many others did.   I packed my bags and took up a hostel in Latur. The training did not only help me understand retail management better but also made a confident person. After the training I was placed in shopper stop. I got salary higher than my expectation and over the last six months I have been working there.
