Metabolism of ganglioside GM2 in GM2 activator-deficient fibroblasts Metabolism of ganglioside GM2 in GM2 activator-deficient fibroblasts. [3H]Ganglioside GM2 was added to the culture medium of skin fibroblasts. After 70 h, the lipids were extracted, separated on thin-layer chromatography plates and the radioactive spots visualized with fluorography. Lane 1 = standards; lane 2 = normal control cells; lane 3 = GM2 activator-deficient cells, 30 μg of purified GM2 activator protein added with the ganglioside substrate.
