Benefits to Instructional Videos Flipping - Students can watch these instructional videos outside of traditional class time to prepare for the more hands-on application work they will do in class. Remediation - Students the need extra help can watch videos to gain more instruction, with the option to rewind and rewatch as needed. Enrichment - Students that are ready for additional content or challenges can use your recorded screencasts to extend their learning. Differentiation - There is only one of you, but there can be loads of videos you have created, allowing students to explore different content as needed or desired. Independence - With recorded screencasts students and teachers can get help on their own initiative and on their own time, without having to get face to face help for everything. Today’s Mission Create a screencast using Google Drawing and Screencastify. Think of a topic you would like to teach. Create Poster in Google Drawing Insert Images/Manipulatives (coins, rulers etc.) Record Share: Google Classroom/Seesaw/Padlet Wall Topic Idea: Teach students how to measure to the nearest centimeter or inch.

What you need Chrome browser or Chromebook Screencastify extension Google Drive Working mic Good content you want to share or learning/thinking you want to ‘grab’ Webcam (optional) Means of sharing- YouTube, Drive, Seesaw, Google Classroom This is simply one way of screencasting, there are many other types of extensions and software to use. The easy integration with Chrome and Chromebook make it an ideal set for GAFE schools. Ask your domain administrator to auto add the extensions to the chromebooks. Records only the tab you started on, ideal for a Maths video using Google Drawing or a single Doc. Just records your webcam, not the screen Records the whole desktop, good for when you are using multiple tabs in your video. Option to have your face recorded (from webcam) and included in the corner of your video! Always check your microphone is working...sound bars should be moving up and down Allows you to see what the recording will look like as you’re recording. Option to record the audio coming from the website you’re on- generally not required if you’re recording your own voice. Get started
