NASA Trip 2016

Robotic vs Human Exploration The Astronomy and Planetary Science Club presents Mars: Robotic vs Human Exploration As we settle into the 21st Century, it seems that Mars is to be the new space race. So far, our robotic ambassadors have been flying out on ambitious missions to take photos and gather information, but for how long should we rely on them? Natasha Nicholson and Rosie Cane, PhD students from the UK Centre for Astrobiology, will discuss the pros and cons of sending humans to the surface of another planet, where only rovers and probes have gone before Natasha Nicholson is researching gravity’s effect on communities of rock-mining bacteria. Rosie Cane is studying the effect of multiple extremes, such as temperature and acidity, on bacterial life. Friday 16th December 3:30pm Lecture Theatre RSVP by School Post
