Users are happy with the system: some minor problems. CERN, Freiburg (Louvain) and Liverpool have developed their own mechanical setups for the ALIBAVA system. Henry Brown from Liverpool has customized the ROOT macros. Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 4

ALIBAVA current status Status of the ALIBAVA system and the Telescope ALIBAVA Report, 11 December 2009, Valencia, Spain ALIBAVA current status We have new orders for the system: Lausanne (Silvia Anserment): 1 full system. Hamburg (Robert Klanner): 2 full systems. Wien (Thomas Bergauer): 1 full system. CERN (Michael Moll): 1 full system and 2 extra DBs. Freiburg (Ulrich Parzefall): 2 extra DBs. Karlsruhe (Alexander Dierlamm): fanins. CNM will be in charge of the distribution in the future (Joaquin Rodriguez). We have produced and assembled 20 MBs. 10 MBs for ALIBAVA. 10 MBs for the Telescopes. We have repaired 3 MBs (MB4, MB5 and 11/2008-20). We are working in a new MB box: more aesthetic. We have designed and produced new detector boards. A new version of the software has been released. Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 5

An upgrade of the FPGA firmware incorporating new features. Status of the ALIBAVA system and the Telescope ALIBAVA Report, 11 December 2009, Valencia, Spain ALIBAVA future plans An upgrade of the FPGA firmware incorporating new features. Beetle chip masking for single chip operation. Digitalization of the Beetle readout data header. Programmable delay scan (1 ns resolution-255 ns range) for the calibration: pulse reconstruction from calibration data. Test of the new MBs. Production of the new MB boxes. Shipment of MBs (with corresponding box) as required by CNM. Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 6

System based on the ALIBAVA system. Status of the ALIBAVA system and the Telescope ALIBAVA Report, 11 December 2009, Valencia, Spain Telescope concept System based on the ALIBAVA system. Crate for MBs with PS DUT XYT Master card Rotary stage Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 7

DUT card: card based on the DB. Status of the ALIBAVA system and the Telescope ALIBAVA Report, 11 December 2009, Valencia, Spain Telescope concept DUT card: card based on the DB. Readout of chilled DUT (strip or fanout pixel silicon detectors) using one or two Beetle chips. The board features a temperature sensor attached to the DUT backplane via the copper chuck. The board could operate in a self-triggering mode providing analogue and digital pulses for the readout system. A cooling system based on a Peltier element has been developed (also for the ALIBAVA). 4 XYT cards: card based on the DB. For triggering on the particle tracks in the beam test and measuring of the track space points using 2 silicon strip detectors mounted back-to-back at 90 deg. The coordinate measurements are performed with two Beetle chips. The card produces the analogue and digital trigger pulses. Its local intelligence (CPLD) allows for their conditioning: synchronizing to a common clock frequency, delaying and implementing coincidence with other XYT stations. ALIBAVA MB (one for each DUT and XYT). USB controller changed by a connector for digital parallel communication with the master card. Three dedicated inputs for external CLK, RESET and TRIGGER signals. Last upgrade of the ALIBAVA MB firmware incorporated. Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 8

Master patch card: connected to the master card. Status of the ALIBAVA system and the Telescope ALIBAVA Report, 11 December 2009, Valencia, Spain Telescope concept Master patch card: connected to the master card. Generating and distributing the common clock frequency for the DUT and XYT readout systems. Conditioning and distributing the common trigger and reset pulses for them. Data readout bus arbitration (ALIBAVA MBs). Test channel '0' or '1' of one standalone DUT or XYT card. Readout bus terminator. Replace the USB chip on each ALIBAVA MB and link all readout systems to the control and readout data bus keeping the USB controller protocol. Master card. Xilinx Spartan 3E development board. Bridge for communication between software and ALIBAVA MBs by raw ethernet. More features in the future if required. Power distribution board. Fanout +5V and +12V DC from the standard PC power supply to all ALIBAVA MBs and to the master card, scintillation trigger, DUT rotation stage and air coolers for the Peltier element of the DUT. Ricardo Marco-Hernández IFIC(CSIC-Universidad de Valencia) 9
