Success Story

Denis Denis is one of our many success stories. Denis is now 64 years of age . He had previously worked for 42 years as a time served painter and decorator. Latterly he found the increased stress and pressure of the job was causing him to develop severe symptoms of depression and stress, that resulted in him being unable to work for fifteen months. After treatment , including counselling sessions , he felt well enough to consider re-entering “The World of Work” through initially volunteering at Comco Training Centre. During the next eighteen months his confidence and skills developed and he proved to be a very enthusiastic reliable member of the team who related well with both staff and trainees. In 2012 a staff vacancy became available, he was interviewed for and offered a position as a Tutor in mechanical engineering and DIY skills and gone on to gain certification in Train the Trainer and PTLLS L4 . Denis feels that attending the training centre was the first step in his recovery. It gave him a reason to get up in the morning , by giving structure and purpose to his day and taught him new skills. He feels that his personal experience will enable him to help others develop their confidence and self belief needed to progress. In addition to Denis, Paul has recently joined us, again he came through the route of volunteering in the Mechanical Repair side and has also gained Train the Trainer and the Award in Education & Training QCF in June 2016 (formerly PTLLS)
