Transit Service Update Paratransit (SunDial) Implementing a service model change in our Paratransit service. The Eligibility Department will be doing in-person interviews and using the 3 categories for the ADA eligibility, which are Unconditional, Conditional and Temporary when considering an applicant for Paratransit service Implemented our No-Show policy in May 2016 and our YTD no-show percentage has declined from 7.2% to 3.4%. Our Paratransit On Time Performance YTD is 91% Fixed Route (Sun Bus) Expanded Line 111 service to the City of Coachella providing a 20-minute frequency Line 20 express service from Desert Hot Springs to Palm Desert Introduced FREE Wi-Fi to all fixed route buses in October 2016 SunLine is exploring providing a dial-a-ride service to the East Valley utilizing the taxi network creating increased flexibility for riders and lower costs for service provision Launching a VanPool in July 2017

With programs in place at this time to be the first transit agency in the country to operate 100% alternatively fueled full size transit coaches, it is only logical that our next step should be to adopt a policy that will ensure that all vehicles purchased at SunLine are fueled by an alternative fuel”

Solar Energy SunLine produces approximately 33 percent of the electrical energy power will come from solar panels. With the addition of covered parking we should be at approximately 60 percent of electrical energy usage from solar power. The addition of LED lighting and possible battery storage will contribute to the overall pursuit of energy independence. The goal is to be 100 percent reliant on solar power. At the end of the current solar panel project approximately 33 percent of the electrical energy power will come from solar panels. SunLine’s Center of Excellence Establish a Center of Excellence to house investments in learning For every investment in technology, there is investment in training and learning Funding partners have already made substantial investments in the technology Center of Excellence will be a site to preserve and enhance those learning investments Acquisition and in-service management Leverages prior investments and prevents duplication in future technology projects Is not limited to transit technology and can transcend other “spill over” applications To prevent the a “loss of learning” we believe that a Center of Excellence must be created. Is not limited to public agencies, but could attract light duty to heavy duty trucking Training courses Sales meetings, etc Significant investments have been made and are planned We need to educate our industry on procurement and team collaboration strategies The Center of Excellence is a site where those investments can be preserved and disseminated. Acquisition and in-service management Prevents duplication of efforts Is not limited to Hydrogen, but can be used for all other alternative and emerging energy technologies

SunLine’s Capital Project List The following project awards are on schedule for the next 36 months: (5) Hydrogen Buses & Onsite Hydrogen Station New Operations Facility (5) Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses (LoNo) Transportation Demand Management (Vanpool) Battery Dominant Fuel Cell Bus (4) Zero Emission Buses – All Electric Center of Excellence Facility for Zero Emission Vehicle Training Total Project Awards: $43,314,422 AQIP: (5) Hydrogen Buses & Hydrogen Station with a funded amount of $12,213,200. SunLine will be using a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) style electrolyzer. New Operations Facility with a (3) phase with a funding for a total of $9,168,000 (5) Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses (LoNo) with a funding amount of $13,103,860 Transportation Demand Management (Vanpool) with a total funded amount of $1,990,000 Battery Dominant Fuel Cell Bus with total funded amount of $5,151,307 (4) Zero Emission Buses recently awarded from California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) Maintenance Facility for Zero Emission Vehicles. It will serve two purposes 1.) effectively maintain SunLine’s Line 20 Zero Emission Buses and 2.) to provide an interactive learning center for Zero Emission Buses maintenance, known as the SunLine Center of Excellence in Zero Emission Technology; this will help support maintenance and workforce training.
