The plastic injection mould or mould tool (in American the term mold is used instead) is the center of the process. Here the molten plastic material is shaped to the intended form and cooled before ejected as a finished part. Each part in a multiple mould is called a cavity.

The Three Plate Mould allows the part and the sprue to be separated due to the two stage opening process.
