Introduction to Guide Structure The first few pages of this document will outline the setup instructions in text only. If the text based portion of this guide is insufficient, the next section of each subsection of this document will include screen shot captures of some of the defined steps. These pages will be similar to what you see below. Step 1 Step 2 Page 6

Setting Up Your Router Step 1: Set up wireless network by plugging in your wireless router. Step 2: Using a windows laptop, connect to the WIFI connection your router created. Step 3: From the command line on the laptop, issue the command “ipconfig” in order to display the default gateway, which will be the IP address of the router that is needed. May need to verify that IPv4 is set using DHCP on this step. Step 4: Type the IP address of the router (the default gateway) into your web browser to manage the settings of the router. Page 7

Setting Up Your Router Continued Step 5: Login using the default credentials of your router. Step 6: Configure your router to the specifications of your desired network. In our case we utilized a wireless network configuration that relied on manual addressing for separate network IP allocations for the physical machines and the virtual machines. Please refer to network diagram and subnetting chart for more detailed information about our network configuration. Page 8

Configuring the Physical Machines Step 1: Begin by ensuring the wireless connection switched is in the “ON” position. Step 2: Press start and type “ncpa.cpl” and press enter. This will bring up your Network Connections window. Step 3: Right click on the wireless network connection that is connected to your wireless network and click “Properties”. Step 4: Under “This connection uses the following items:”, scroll down to “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and select it. Step 5: Click “Properties”. Page 9

Configuring the Physical Machines Continued Step 6: Select the radio button “Use the following IP address:” Step 7: Input the address according to your addressing scheme. We used the 192.168.5.0/24 network for our physical machines. Page 10
