What Thinking Can Do In Ps. 119:59 it reads, “I thought about my ways, and turned my feet to Your testimonies.” Clearly David understood the value of thinking and reflecting on his life From time to time, we need to just take time out of our day to think about our life

What Thinking Can Do We need to think about where we need to be as the disciples of Jesus You might call it some good old fashioned self-examination II Cor. 13:5 – “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.”

What Thinking Can Do 1. We need to think about our freedom John 8:32 – “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Our reality is that we have gone from slaves of sin to being free in Christ We can walk around each day without that burden of sin weighing down on us We should keep this reality always before us (Col. 1:13)

What Thinking Can Do 1. We need to think about our freedom This is what makes our lives as Christians so wonderful! We see others that go about sad and burdened because they are slaves to their sin and guilt This freedom should cause us to stand firm in our faith and serve God faithfully (Gal. 5:1)

We need to think about our faith The Bible teaches us that we are to grow in our faith (II Pet. 1:5ff) We know that without faith it is impossible to please Him (Heb. 11:6) I Jn. 5:4 tells us that our faith is the victory that overcomes the world! We should take inventory of our level of faith

We need to think about our faith Our faith in God is what will allow us to continue in this life rather than just giving up Our faith will get us through the most difficult times in our lives If we think about our faith, it will help us to turn to God when troubles surround us and evil comes (Ps. 37:5)

We need to think about our failures Some may think there are mixed messages when it comes to thinking about our sins We can get rid of the guilt that is associated with our wrongdoings because we know that God has forgiven us However, we can still think back and learn from our wrongs

James 3:2 says we all stumble in many things If we act as though we do not, we are deceiving ourselves (I Jn. 1:6-10)

We need to think about our failures We should take note of the areas that we fail in and do our best to work on those areas We should ask for God’s help in getting better in those areas as well Thinking about our failures can help us turn from our prideful attitudes and self- righteousness

We need to think about our future Phil. 3:20 – “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Heaven should be the goal of every Christian The best way to run the race is to keep ourselves focused on the goal Heb. 12:1-2

What Thinking Can Do 4. We need to think about our future Weight loss example So many times it may not seem like it’s worth it, but when we think of eternity, we realize it is! Through the gospel, we have an eternal reservation I Pet. 1:4

We need to think about our future Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us and He will come again to receive us (Jn. 14:2-3) This should keep us motivated through this life Thinking about our future will help us turn our attention to the things that really matter in this life!
