LEARNING TO LOVE THE RULES Psalm 119 shows us that God’s rules bless us in many ways. Like the Psalmist, we should be passionately in love with God’s rules instead of disdaining them.

Synonyms for God’s Word in Psalm 119 Law Way Testimonies Commandments Precepts Word Judgment Righteousness Statutes Faithfulness Truth

Why Love the Rules? In them we see the promise of God’s righteous judgment (Psalm 119:26-27, 119) They keep us from stumbling as we journey toward our hope of salvation (Psalm 119:163-167; Hebrews 5:9) In loving them the Lord will revive and strengthen us (Psalm 119:159)

If we love the rules… We will obey them (Psalm 119:167) We will have peace and stability (Psalm 119:165) It will be a pleasure to think about them (Psalm 119:97, 47-48)

Love for our Father’s rules makes us family! “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:50)
