Judy’s movies Judy Garland has starred in various musicals and movies including… The Wizard of Oz For me and my gal The clock In the good old summertime

Wizard of Oz Substitute?? Judy Garland wasn’t the first to audition for the wizard of Oz. It was in fact Shirley Temple but her vocal abilities weren’t as good as Judy’s but also as 20th Century Fox refused to ‘lend’ Temple to MGM.

Over the rainbow Did you know that there was an outtake in the witch’s castle in the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy was crying while singing over the rainbow because she missed home. But it was too sad to put into the real movie.

The Wizard of Oz Judy Garland starred in the Wizard of Oz in 1939. It was probably her most well-known film. Her character was called Dorothy Gale, a 16 year old girl from Kansas who gets whirled up in a storm and lands in the merry old land of Oz.

Dorothy and her dog, Toto embark on a journey to Emerald City to find the Wizard of Oz. On her journey to the wizard she meets a scarecrow, a tin man, a cowardly lion and the wicked witch of the west.

For me and my Gal Judy Garland acted and sang in ‘For me and my gal’ in 1942 when she was 19. She played Jo Hayden. It was Judy’s first ‘real’ adult role she had played and she said that she really enjoyed it and she hoped to do more films and musicals in the future.

The Clock Judy played Alice Mayberry in the 1945 film, The Clock. Judy had done many films and musicals before but this one was her first film in which she didn’t sing and her first dramatic role. She also said that she liked being with the director, her future husband.

In the good old summertime Judy played in this musical film in 1949. Her character was called Veronica Fisher. The film is a musical adaptation of the 1940 film, the shop around the corner.

Some famous quotes “I can live without money but I cannot live without love.” “Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” “Behind every cloud is another cloud”

Death Judy Garland died aged 47. She died because of an accidental Barbiturate (sleeping pill) overdose. Judy died on 22nd June 1969. She died very young and was missed by many people. Especially her family, friends and her audience.

Judy’s Funeral Judy Garland had a very big funeral because she was famous and quite well-known around the world. It was a very sad and depressing day for many people and she will be forever missed.
