1. Introduction Communication Server / Mainframe DSAdvance is a reporting and charting interface specifically designed for use with Datastream’s financial data service. Explain Connections Datastream supplies data direct to the PC through a high-speed line to the mainframe.

Online or Offline? The default is to connect and go online when data is requested. Users can work offline and add to the project with Add New Request Getting Connected Flash in bottom right corner of screen indicates connection. Tools / Connect Now Right mouse click on flash in bottom right corner / Connect Now Run Now to request report, chart or data immediately

Data Coverage Datastream is a historical financial database with 4 main modules:

DATA Clean Data – Data is checked several times per day to strict business rules. Regularly Updated Data – Data is updated daily. Long History – Equities and Indices from 1964 and macroeconomic series from IFS from 1950.

The DSAdvance Screen Five parts of screen Database Selection – databases, Program Selection – generate Overview, Chart, Report, Data or Comparison Find field Parameters – Set display period, data type and currency Output Screen Change window size Drag & Drop splitter bars to resize Output and Project screens Viewport Zoom button to enlarge or reduce the size of displayed reports or charts

Example A: Overview of Company Performance - France Telecom Display Overview of Company Performance for France Telecom over 3 years in Euro. Database = Equity = France Telecom Output = Overview of Company Performance Time period = 3 years 1. Select Equity database tab 2. Select program tab: Overview of a single series Select output: Overview of Company Performance 3. Display Time period = -3Y 4 Display Currency = Euro 5. Select Equity: Type in Find field = France Telecom 6. Run Now button to request chart 7. Viewport Zoom button

Finding Series Select Equity tab 1. Simple Find - In Find type the company name, series name etc. Note: Do not use this option for Economic series. Better to use Filter. OPEN THE DATASTREAM NAVIGATOR: Free text search: free search Advanced search: set parameters 2. Find * - In Find type * + part of series name. E.g. *bp gives BP Amoco 3. Filter – alternative to using Find

Example B: Chart of a single series - Bayer 1. For Bayer use a Line chart to display Price over 3 years. 2. Select the Price and Price Relative chart to compare Bayer with the DAX30 local index 3. Change relative index to the MSCI Germany local currency index 3’. Change relative index to the Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 index (DJES50I)

Example B: Chart of a single series – Bayer D:BAYN Part 1- Line Chart of Price 1. Equity: select Bayer found via filter 2. Program tab: Chart of a single series / Line Chart 3. Time period = -3Y / Run Now Part 2 – Price Relative Chart: Relative to local index 1. Select output: Price and Price Relative Chart / Run

Example B: Chart of a single series - Bayer Part 3 – Change Relative Index 1. Settings / Default Index tab Select: MSCI Country Index (Local) / OK / Run Now Part 3’ – Price Relative Chart: Relative to Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 index 1. Settings… In Find type: *STOXX 50 /OK / Run Now Mnemonic: DJES50I

Example C: Change of Date and Datatype – Mediaset Display Mediaset stock by price for last 5 years Display Mediaset stock Price Earnings Ratio since January 1 2001

Part 2 – Configure Dates Show Fixed & Relative Dates Configure dates: Start = Fixed 1/1/01 End = Relative 0 Day / Check Before Today

Part 3 – Select P/E Ratio datatype 1. Press Datatype 2. Show how to select P/E ratio Note: Graph output has a limitation on the frequency of the data. Daily data can be displayed for up to 2 years; weekly data between 2 to 5 years and monthly data beyond. A fixed start date will display that data at weekly/monthly frequency so 31 of month will give month-end data.

Moving Average Chart In Chart of a single series there are 2 Moving Average Charts. 1. Moving Average Chart with fixed parameters (5 and 20 days) 2. Moving Average Chart - Configurable

Example D: Moving Average Chart – Configurable – Fiat Display Moving Average chart of Price for Fiat over 20 days and 50 days over the last year. 1. Equities/ Find field = Fiat/ Select stock 2. Program: Chart of a single series/ Moving Average Chart – Configurable 3. Date: = -1Y Datatype = Price (Adjusted) 4. Settings: Show options in MAV configuration box 5. OK /Run Now

Favourites – Save often used requests Use the Favourites facility to store often used requests To save Moving Average 20 day and 50 day in Fiat example: After Run Now press Add Fav. Button In Favourites type unique name (e.g. MAV 20 day & 50 day) Confirm OK

Report on a single series gives a variety of useful reports. Performance over 1, 3, and 12 months – Settings Settings: Select relative index and performance periods Default Index: Choose Market or Sector index Periods: Select performance periods in ascending order

Example: Coca Cola Part 1: Report – Performance over 1, 3, and 12 months 1. Equity = Coca Cola 2. Program tab: Report on a single series / Performance over 1, 3 and 12 Months / Run Now Fixed end date/today

Bond tab Program tab: Overview on a single series/ Overview of Bond Performance Date = -1Y 4. Filter / Local Series Market = Germany Borrower = Germany government Coupon = equals 4.75 5. Select Bond / Run Now

Summary Information Shows all available data for a bond.

Example H: Market Index – German DAX Index 1. Select German DAX Index from Germany. Display a Line Chart of the price index for last year. 1. Select output: Chart of a single series/ Line Chart 2. Time Period = -1Y Datatype = Price Index / Run Now

Exercise 11: Percentage Changes Chart – IBEX 35 Index (Spain) Display a Percentage Changes Chart for the IBEX 35 Spanish equity index for the last 2 years. Part 1: Find Index – Browse 1. Select database tab Index 2. Browse / 2 (Country M-Z) / 22 (Spain) 3. Scroll to IBEX 35 index / Finish 4. Select Index Or Find Index - * 2. Find = *IBEX 35 3. Select Index Part 2: Select Output 1. Chart of a single series / Percentage Changes Chart 2. Dates = -2Y / Run Now

8. Time Series Data The Time Series Data selection downloads values from a single series between two dates at a specified frequency. For several time series use Multiple series\ Time Series Data Use Add button

Example I: Time Series Data – DAX Index Request monthly price data in spreadsheet for DAX Index for the period 1/1/99 to now. Transfer result to Excel. Part 1 – Select program and index 1. Index Program Data for a single series/ Time Series Data Options: Time: Fixed =1/1/99, Relative = 0 Days Datatype = Price Index Settings: frequency: monthly

9. Constituent Lists Constituent lists are lists of equities and bonds that can be downloaded. Example J: Performance over 3 months – FTSEMIB Constituents tab (LFTSEMIB) List of series-summary / performance ranked over three months 2. Datatype = Price (adjusted) / Run Now

Exercise 13: Top 30 performers – FTSE 250 Constituents Select the FTSE 250 constituents. Display a bar chart of the top 30 performers over 1 month and 12 months. Part 1: Find Series 1. Constituents tab 2. Filter / Edit or clear items in filter. Name = *LFTSE 250 / OK Part 2: Display Performance over 3 months Summary – for a list of series/ Bar Char: Top 30 Perf over 1 and 12 months Run Now

11. Project Projects are a simple way of recalling frequently used reports, charts and data formats. Every request that is run is automatically added into the project box. Save a Project: 1. File\ Save As 2. Save button Save Project if changes have been made. Note: Default folder is “user”. File Extension = .ADV

Project New Project A new project has a clear Request Screen and clear Project Screen 1. Start up DSAdvance software 2. New Project button Open a Project To open saved projects to show default folder: File/ Open or Open File button Update a Project A project can be refreshed by clicking on the refresh button or by scheduling the Night Shift 1. Refresh Current Request - updates single request 2. Refresh Project - updates whole project 3. Tools/ Schedule Night Shift – updates project automatically at programmed times and frequencies

Example M: Save project and schedule night shift Save current project on local C: drive. Schedule project to be updated on the same day in 3 minutes with one off frequency. Part 1 - Save Project 1. File / Save as or Save button 2. Enter File Name / Save Part 2 - Schedule Update 1. Tools / Schedule Night Shift / Schedule Project tab 2. Schedule For Future Select Date & Time [+3 minutes] Frequency = One Off 3. Browse../ Select file to schedule / Add + file to Schedule details / OK

Toolbar Refresh the currently displayed request with the latest Datastream prices or values. Refresh all requests in the current Project with latest Datastream prices or values. Add request to Project for Scheduled Night Shift processing. Use the Add New Request button to add any number of requests to a Project so all requests can be processed together when you connect to Datastream. Delete the displayed request from the current Project.

Download in Excel Static data request Static data can be requested for a number of series on a given time interval. Static data can be requested for: a) Single series b) List of series a) Push Settings to select up to 9 datatypes.

Example: Dax 30 Select in Find: Dax 30 NB DON’T USE Data for a single series \ static data Select Summary – for a list of series / Static Data Select fixed date: today. In Settings: DS Static Datatypes Select, Weight in Index, Earnings Per Share In Key Datatypes select Market Value.

Parte 3: transfer in Excel 1. Tools , Transfer , Excel. Or Right click on Transfer and select Excel. 2. settings: Data from viewport: Without creating dynamic link As Refreshable object: (dynamic link) Select the positioning in Excel.
