Goal 2: Zonta International is a leading advocate for women’s rights. Goal 3: Zonta International builds and sustains a vibrant global membership. Goal 4: Zonta International maintains resources to support mission and vision fulfillment. Goal 5: Zonta’s Centennial Anniversary celebrations have visibility around the world Founded in 1919, approximately 30,000 comited members in nearly 70 countries actively advocate for changes to laws, to cultural practices, and to prevailing attitudes that have resulted in gender inequality or have compromised women’s safety and security. Focus this biennium is the Prevention of Root Causes through education.

What does the Pikes Peak Area Zonta do? Empower Become empowered

Zonta Empowers Women Members of the Pikes Peak Area Zonta Club: Participate in service projects that help women achieve their potential. This year you can get hands-on at events such as the Human Trafficking Task Force of Southern Colorado Symposium (this organization was launched by PPA Zonta 9 years ago and we continue to support it through Zonta Wings); the International Women’s Day Celebration, whose committee is comprised of women from 6 different service clubs; the KRCC fall membership drive; the Citizen’s Project get-out-the-vote drive. We volunteer at TESSA. the Women’s Resource Agency and other non- profit agencies. We attend or sponsor events such as Melissa Marts’ meet-up to support a local homeless rape victim or Sharon Roggy’s Trades of Hope Party. We bring goods and household objects for Partners in Housing. And much more! Bring your good ideas to the Board! This year’s goal is two points of contact per month for every member! Sign up, bring a friend! Advocate Zonta’s position on women’s issues locally and internationally Achieve greater impact internationally by combining our voices with like- minded organizations and the United Nations Work with government and community leaders who share common goals

The Pikes Peak Area Club Efforts include: Advocacy Launching Families; Centro de la Familia; participation in Silent Witness, Orange the World (UN), Women’s Equality Day; partnership and collaboration with groups such as the Human Trafficking Task Force of Southern Colorado (founded by PPA Zonta); Women’s Resource Agency, Pikes Peak Women, TESSA, Partners for Housing; Leadership Pikes Peak, and more. International Service Trampled Rose (Ethiopia) International Women’s Day Theme for 2017: STEAM (STEM plus the Arts). Zonta partners with groups such as the Women’s Resource Agency, Soroptimists International of Colorado Springs, AAUW (American Association of University Women), WES (the Women’s Education Society of Colorado College); Colorado Springs World Affairs Council; League of Women’s Voters to sponsor an informative and celebratory event the first Saturday of March each year. In the works: A “Z Club” for like-minded local girls in high school Local scholarships: Jane M. Klausman Women-in-Business Scholarships (JMK) (UCCS) YWPA-Young Women in Public Affairs Awards (through area high schools)

The Pikes Peak Area Zonta Club has launched: http://ht-colorado.org/index.html The Pikes Peak Area Zonta Club has launched: of Southern Colorado This Task Force was formed at the Human Trafficking Awareness Symposium sponsored by the Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area and Youth With a Mission in September 2008. Over 300 interested persons attended to learn more about trafficking and to see what might be done in our community. Our Vision is to End Human Trafficking, thereby reducing suffering and making our community safer.  Our Mission is to build a collaboration of organizations and individuals to reduce human suffering caused by human trafficking, through advocacy, awareness, rehabilitation, and services for survivors.

The Pikes Peak Area Zonta Club has launched: The Planning Committee for the Colorado Springs International Women’s Day Celebration is a collaborative effort of several local organizations including: Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area American Association of University Women - Colorado Springs Branch Soroptimists International of Colorado Springs,  Women's Resource Agency,  Colorado Springs World Affairs Council  The League of Women Voters, Pikes Peak Region The Women’s Educational Society of Colorado College http://www.iwd-coloradosprings.org/

Together, we can accomplish more! On March 31, 1949 the charter dinner for the Zonta Club of Colorado Springs was held at the Broadmoor Hotel with 19 charter members. In 1985, the Pikes Peak Area Club was formed. The two clubs merged, keeping the original charter of the CSZC and the title of the PPAZC. We work throughout our community and with Zontians all over the world to achieve our goals! Together, we can accomplish more! www.zonta.org
