State Environment Performance Funding Complete College TN Drive to 55 Tennessee Promise Tennessee Reconnect

Institutional Environment Second lowest adult student population among state universities Recruited second fewest Community College transfer students Limited institutional online programs High student retention Declining enrollments Constricted budget Solid academic reputation Tennessee Tech should increase adult and online enrollment through high quality degree programs in areas where the industry need and institutional strength meet.

Online vs. Adult Education Online and Adult Education are not the same. Why we reference both? While greater numbers of traditional students are taking online courses, many use them to supplement their campus based F2F programs. The higher concentration of adults in fully online programs reflects more than just preference or convenience, it’s the only way they can access higher education. Adult Students comprise 77% of enrollments at online only institutions.

TTU can have an adult student population similar to our state peers Adult Students as a Percentage of Undergraduate Enrollments Fall 2015 Colleges Enrollment Adults Percentage APSU 10,120 2,988 29.53% TSU 9,179 1,869 20.36% U of M 20,699 4,132 19.96% MTSU 22,662 4,518 19.94% UTM 6,791 1,145 16.86% ETSU 14,424 2,393 16.59% UTC 11,344 1,349 11.89% TTU  10,952 1,271 11.61% UTK 30,702 1,724 5.62% Target Adult Percentage 17.00% Additional Adult Students Top Half 712 Annual Tuition $8,551 Additional Revenue $6,088,312 These numbers only represent tuition (not fees) and only project undergrad.

Why Won’t Adults Enroll in our Existing Programs? Key Points: Opportunity Cost for adults is high Faculty have more in common with adult students. The attributes of online education that are valuable to adult students are often valuable to faculty.

Why go here………. When you can go…………………………… WGU only offers degree in 4 disciplines: Education, Business, Computers, Nursing ASU has 130+ fully online programs Schools comprable to TTU with online programs usually have 10 – 15 fully online programs When you can go……………………………
