In 1584 Sir Walter Raleigh went to Queen Elizabeth to ask permission to go to Virginia.

In spring, 1585, Sir Raleigh sent a small fleet to Roanoke, led by Sir Grenville. They returned a couple months later.

Sir Raleigh sent the second group of 117 people in 1587. They stayed.

In 1587, August 18, Virginia Dare was born In 1587, August 18, Virginia Dare was born. She was the first English child born in America. Her grandfather was John White.

In 1588, John White decided to go get supplies in England.

John White came back two years later, due to war delay John White came back two years later, due to war delay. He came ashore and they’ve vanished.

He found the word “Croatoan” carved in the tree He found the word “Croatoan” carved in the tree. He went searching for his people.

First he went to the Croatoan tribe and they said they hadn’t seen them.

Second, people though that the colony went to another island or tried to go back to England, but sank.

My theory is that they went to live with the Native Americans because John White hadn’t come back. The natives had food so they went with.
