Communication Red take home folders are our link! Daily behavior, homework, information concerning tests and events, etc. will be included. Classwork and graded tests will also be placed in the graded work folder – please sign this when it is sent home. Notes in the red folder will be utilized when needed also. ClassDoJo has a messaging center where I can send out messages to individual parents or the whole class. Copy slide if you want to add more sections to this PowerPoint.

Communication You can call the school office during the instructional day and leave a message. I will return your call later that afternoon. I will be sending out first nine weeks conference notes within the first couple of weeks. Copy slide if you want to add more sections to this PowerPoint.

Discipline Positive discipline system where good behavior is reinforced and consequences are established for when rules are broken. Refer to behavior sheet at the back of parent packet. Check the homework folder for daily reports of your child’s behavior. ClassDoJo.com for reports on your child’s behavior.

Social Contract Our class will also create a Social Contract during the first week of school. This contract will be created as a collaborative process with all students in the class. It will outline how to behave and treat each other in our class. After the Social Contract has been created, everyone in the class will sign it and agree to follow the contract. I will provide you with our social contract once our class has created it.

Homework Monday- Thursday every week Please check homework folders daily and go over materials inside folder with your child. Help your child with homework and read with them every night. Please sign the homework/behavior sheet daily. This MUST remain in the folder. Insert info or delete slide.

Books Students are responsible for packing them. Bag books will also come home which are on your child’s reading level. Please also ensure these are returned on a daily basis.

Assessments Assessments are given throughout the year. Writing journals, reading levels, weekly spelling and reading tests, math/science/social studies tests, and district mandated tests will be used. Tests will be sent home in red homework folders. Report cards and midterm reports will be sent home each nine weeks. MAP tests will be administered 3 times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring). Results will help to guide instruction for your child.

Assessments I-station is a district-wide assessment program that we will be using daily in the classroom. TenMarks is a math program that will be used to assess math skills taught this year. These programs ARE NOT linked to grades. These programs are another piece to your child’s puzzle to show what they know.

We are now using a 10 pt. grading scale. 59 and below = U

Transportation Please make sure your child and I know how they will come to and go home from school every day. (Fill out form) If there is a change in transportation please write me a note and let me know. Otherwise, your child will go home the same way every day. There are no exceptions to this!

Attendance It is important that your child is at school every day and on time. If for some reason your child is out, please send a written excuse the day your child returns to avoid unexcused absences.

Toys and Other Distractions Please make sure your child does not bring toys, cell phones, or anything that may be a distraction to learning. If the item becomes a problem, I will take the items and they may not be returned before the end of the year.

PTO Please join PTO for $5. This will help our school to have the materials needed for all of our students to learn. It will also help if you show your support by attending monthly skate nights and restaurant nights. Collecting and sending in Box Tops and Labels for Education is also beneficial! Show ABCD on wall

Website I will update our classroom website weekly with important announcements, homework information, and a list of things that we will be learning each week. You can access it through the Whitehall Elementary Webpage! http://www.anderson5.net/Page/25265 Contact Info By phone- Whitehall Elementary 260-5255 after 3:00 By email- ashleyrollins@anderson5.net By note- send to school in red folder
