RED, WHITE and BLUE Hockey (Termites and Mites – including 8U) Cross-Ice games for Termites and Mites Increase puck time and play time Skating skills repetition - stop, start, and change directions far more often Increase the competition - number of puck battles goes up Reduce the time and space, increase the decision making (hockey sense) Playing surface fits the size of our players Players that succeed at the higher levels are the ones who can play in traffic, this playing format increases the traffic!

Playing Surface to fit the Player A pro-size ball measures 28 inches, while a youth-size ball measures 24 inches. Field size for U-8 runs between (20yds TO 25yds) & (30yds TO 40yds) while the pro-size International field is between (70yds TO 80yds) & (110yds TO 120yds) In pro baseball, the distance from the pitcher’s mound to home plate is 60’6”, while in Little League it’s only 46 feet. Pro base lines are 90 feet while Little League the base line are 60 feet. A pro basketball hoop measures 10 feet high. Younger kids play with a hoop that’s as much as 2 feet lower. They also play cross court.

COACHES We need a bunch!! Must be USA hockey registered (not certified) and Safe Sport certified USAhockey.com Must wear a helmet for practice 6-13 coaches needed per practice session Your child may skate both ice sessions for practice ONLY if you are on the ice for BOTH Coach - must attend 70% of practices to meet volunteer requirements Sign-up for coaching following the meeting Coaches meeting – November 1, 7:00 pm ICON

Special Events Jessica Sporbert will be the special events coordinator for the Termite/Mite level Also volunteer coordinator Special events will include a holiday jamboree, hot cocoa day, year end event, outdoor classic, and many other events throughout the season.

Event Dates (subject to change) Hot Cocoa Day- November 19th Holiday Jamboree- Need to check with Ralph- Termites will be December 17th Mites will be December 18th Outdoor Winter Classic- January 21st Donut Day at the rink- February 3rd End of the year tournament-February 17-19th. Clothing order Form was e-mailed to all participants. Samples are available at the store Orders are due November 4th for a delivery in early December Prices are cheaper than in the store for group order A percentage of all sales goes directly back to the organization

Volunteer Requirements All players will need to meet 6 hours or 3 shifts at designated tournaments Parent coaches special event chairs will have requirements met for the season All volunteer shifts will be done and tracked through the DIBS system If you do not meet your requirements, you will be charged $50 per shift (up to $150 per player) and your player will not be allowed to register for next season until paid in full Please contact Jessica Sporbert with questions at jessica.sporbert@gmail.com
