Planning Tools: Climate and Health Adaptation Framework 3. Assessment of Public Health Preparedness My name is Cyndy Comerford. I am the manager of policy and planning at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and I direct our climate and health program. I believe in a collaborative approach to improving health by incorporating decision-making across sectors, systems and policy areas. I am going to talk about we integrate climate change and health. In my job, I improve the well-being and opportunity of people in San Francisco by creating a healthy and equitable City through policy and planning. We do that in our Climate and Health Program at SFDPH by projecting how climate change will impact San Francisco, connecting those impacts to health outcomes, identifying vulnerable communities and designing solutions to protect those communities. Today, I am going to speak about some of the assessments, outreach and education, planning efforts, partnership building and the development of tools and indictors that help build resilience. The goal of today’s presentation is to inform you about the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Climate and Health Program and other City-wide initiatives I am going to highlight some of the Climate and Health program’s past initiatives and future projects.
