100 years of fashion

Would you like to know how fashion has changed in the last 100 years ?

1915 The 1910s established a new model of dress that marked a deep rupture with the previous fashion the forms are soft and dropped and there is a great use of light and trasparent fabrics often decoreted with strass and beads. The skirt are long and the corsets apparently are soft but often stiffened internally by slats.

1925 The ‘20s are the beginning of a great change in women’s clothing, gradually women abandone corsets, and start to use smooth and soft clothes to wear with socks.

1935 The great depression of ‘29 affected fashion which became more sober returning to femine and less androgynous formes, dress and skirts getting longer below the knee to the ankle.

1945 In this period are mainly used classic garments such as suits , clothes marked with a small waist belt or the combination of tight skirts as the pencil skirt and a blouse. T he silhoulette of the 40s is characterized by shirts and jackets with padded shoulders.

1955 The first half of the 50s is dominated by a new look: and rounded hips, skirts and dresses with a narrow waist and lengthto calf. Also the ‘50s are the decade of rock’n’roll, blue jeans ,t-shirt,the pin up and polka dot patterns; the bikini makes its first apparition.

1965 In the '60s Mary Quant creates the first miniskirt. Women start to use extremely youthful clothes such as mini dresses in bright and colorful fantasies. Furthermore the focus is on stars, universe and space and Pierre Cardin creates a collection inspired to the astronouts.

1975 The '70s are years of freedom, transgression and political conflicts. The colours of flowered fabrics and jeans well represent the new trend identified in the "Hippie".

1985 Fashion in the 80s is colorful, rock, punk, in line with the style Madonna was performing :jackets with huge shoulder pads, tight pants, confortable and sport shoes, sunglasses, blac k leather jackets, is varied, not a simple style but a mixture of styles.

1995 Fashion in the 90s is a fusion of different styles , a sort of "anti- fashion" , which uses simple but colourful and flowered fabrics. It is spring all year long.

2015 Today women's fashion does not refer to a specific style, in fact the designers suggest and not impose. The fashion highlights women's curves, uncovering shoulders and amplifying necklines to emphasize the breasts. Women can choose to wear what best represent them thanks to the magazines that highlight the variety of themes, shapes and materials. The new style is in line with the new woman, anymore fragile but a working woman, emancipated and free.
