Miscellaneous Problem solving

Word Problems Bob is decorating the hallway. One wall measures 2m by 3m. The other wall measures 2m by 2m. What is the total area he will have to paint? Each tin of paint covers 2m². How many tins does Bob need to buy? Bob has a ten pound note. Each tin of paint costs £2.99. Can he afford to paint the whole hallway? Explain your answer.

Word Problems Cont. Mr Kipling opened a packet of sweets to decorate his cake with. He found 3 red sweets, 2 blue and 5 green sweets. What percentage are red? What is the ratio of blue to green sweets? Mr Kipling ate a green sweet. What is the ratio of blue to green sweets now?

Word Problems Cont. Mr Wonka’s chocolatastic cake for four people needs 200g of chocolate. How much chocolate would he need if he made the cake for eight people? Grandpa Joe makes up the recipe for four people with 50g of raisins and 150g of chocolate. How many grams of raisins will he need in a cake for eight people?
