Today’s Agenda Emotional Intelligence Overview Benefits of E.I. PQ, IQ, EQ, and SQ Strategies to Strengthen E.I. In this session, the training focuses on recognizing, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act. It shapes our interactions with others and our understanding of ourselves. It defines how and what we learn; it allows us to set priorities; it determines the majority of our daily actions. Research suggests EI is responsible for as much as 80% of the “success” in our lives.”

What Is Emotional Intelligence? Emotional Intelligence is a way of recognizing, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act. It shapes our interactions with others and our understanding of ourselves. Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand and manage both your own emotions, and those of the people around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence usually know what they're feeling, what this means, and how their emotions can affect other people. For leaders, having emotional intelligence is essential for success. After all, who is more likely to succeed – a leader who shouts at his team when he's under stress, or a leader who stay in control, and calmly assesses the situation?

E.I. Creates the Ability To: Recognize my own feelings Perceive and anticipate the feelings of other people Manage my own behaviors and emotions Manage my relationships well

Why Is E.I. Important? Be flexible in changing situations Help others express their needs Calmly and thoughtfully respond to difficult situations Keep an optimistic and positive outlook Continuously learn how to improve yourself and workplace environment

Benefits of High E.I. Avoid doing and saying things you may regret later Have less stress in your life and cause less stress for others Achieve more positive outcomes and relational proficiency

PQ = Physical Intelligence (Body Awareness) How we observe and manage our energy, stamina, sleep, and overall health. IQ = Cognitive Intelligence (Linguistic/Mathematical) Now includes ability to think logically, systemically and perceptually EQ = Emotional Intelligence (Interpersonal Skills) Based on emotional self-awareness and self-management. SQ = Spiritual Intelligence (shows up behaviorally) Ability to behave with wisdom and compassion while maintaining inner and outer peace regardless of the situation. Review each. Discuss how they all tie in together.

Wrap Up: E.I.= 4Rs R#1: R#2: R#3: R#4: Thanks to the many challenges and opportunities that arise when working with others, leaders must have a solid understanding of how their emotions and actions affect the people around them. The better a leader relates to and works with others, the more successful he or she will be. Take the time to work on self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Working on this will help you excel in the future.

Thank You!
