Library and E-resources If you have just started studying at HSE, you should register at the library first. In order to do that, bring your passport, student card and one 3x4 cm photo to the library. After registering, you will get a reader’s card with a bar code (RFID mark), which is your personal ID. The reader’s card will be your pass to HSE libraries and reading halls, so please always have it with you! Social Transport Card The card is used as a transport card and allows students to take public transport in Moscow (metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses) at a lower price. Learning Management System The Learning Management System (LMS - http://lms.hse.ru/) is the HSE’s educational space that connects instructors with their students. Teachers upload course materials, tests and tasks via the LMS for distribution to students. Students, in return, submit their home assignments or questions to teachers. Your login: your university e-mail address Initial password: the number of your student ID card (no dots, slashes, etc.). In your personal LMS account, you will only see courses for which you are registered. Please check your LMS account regularly. Teaching Quality Assessment Teaching Quality Assessment (TQA) is one of the measures to improve the planning and organisation of the teaching process. Assessment results are taken into account by heads of faculties, departments and educational programmes for adjusting their employment policy and course curricula.  TQA has been held since 2015 and gives a fresh start to the Faculty Rating project, which has a 10-year-long history. Students of all HSE undergraduate, specialist and Master’s programmes in all campuses are involved in the Teaching Quality Assessment.  Detailed instructions for participants of the Teaching Quality Assessment are available in the Students section on the HSE web-site. Tuition Fee Payment Payment of tuition fees at HSE is usually made in two tranches: For the first half-year, by August 25; For the second half-year, by February 20. You can print out the bills for tuition and dorm accommodation, as well as see the guidelines on how to fill them, here. Students are recommended to pay for tuition at Sberbank (Moscow) and Orgbank (Moscow) offices; these banks do not charge a commission. Centre for Psychological Counselling The Psychological Counseling Centre provides free counseling for students in times of stress, and encourages them to ask for help with their most immediate concerns. Our staff is experienced in dealing with deeper developmental and psychological issues ranging from stress and depression to problems of adaptation and eating disorders. All concerns are addressed with sensitivity, respect and understanding. We also provide services to those who wish to prevent their concerns from developing into more serious problems. Our essential goal is to provide an environment where students are free to ask for help.
