Stated objective of the SHOC “To provide a facility for an emergency team, disease surveillance and outbreaks team and key decision makers to operate in the event of an emergency situation, disease outbreak or crisis of any nature.” EMRO Strategic Health Operation Centre (SHOC)

Functionality of the SHOC Ability to communicate via e-mail, telephone, fax, satellite phone, high frequency radio using one or the other as an alternative and backup; Ability to access high speed the internet (broadband); Ability to access satellite television broadcasts (six screens at a time); Ability to use wireless laptop computers (25) and wired (10) in any part of the Room; EMRO Strategic Health Operation Centre (SHOC)

Functionality of the SHOC Ability to print, photocopy and scan; Ability to display multiple images on a 8-screen display system and 4 separate plasmas; Ability to display data from database management systems, presentations, graphics, images, etc; Ability to access political and geographical maps of all the 22 member states with ability to zoom into specific location (city, village, site as much as possible); Ability to access hands-free telephones with incoming from multiple sources; EMRO Strategic Health Operation Centre (SHOC)

Functionality of the SHOC Ability to access video conference facilities; Ability to link for broadcast and interactive communication with other videoconference and meetings rooms and offices of Directors in the Regional Office; Ability to connect to other situation rooms in HQ, ROs and member states; Ability to function 24 hours, 7 days.
