Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. The History Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. is a company that since 1982 operates in the sector of converting machineries Lombardi breaks into the world wide market with its well known line of sheet diecutting machines (model MASTER 80). Actually there are more than 1300 installations of such machines in more than 100 countries. In 1995 Lombardi enters the field of flexographic printing presses with LEXUS, a narrow web central drum flexo press. Thanks to the success of LEXUS, Lombardi steps forward in flexographic machinery. In 2006 Lombardi presents FLEXOLINE, the narrow web flexo press in line. At Drupa 2008, Lombardi presents SYNCHROLINE, the servo motor version of flexoline, with register control technology. In Labelexpo 2013 Lombardi presents INVICTA, a last generation top-of-the-gamma flexo concept, fully automatic, equipped with sleeve changeover technology. Today Lombardi continues developing new technologies and solutions for the narrow web printing and converting market and is spreading worldwide with more than 160 installations of flexo machines. Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. The Core Technology The ABS printing unit (PATENTED) we developed is our biggest technical success: it is a masterpiece of precision and simplicity of use. In fact printing unit's technical concept is developed to optimize all the parameters of printing quality and quickness of job changeover. Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l.

1: Performance Features Hi-FiT System: an innovative system is used for fitting the printing cylinder in the printing unit. The cylinder lays on an algorithmical-shaped curve, that has been studied in order to keep constant the pressure of printing, varying the cylinder diameter. In this way every time the operator changes the format of the printing cylinders, there is no need to reset the printing pressure anymore. The special fitting curve for the clichè cylinder. Hi-FiX System: The printing cylinder and the anilox cylinder are pneumatically clamped with conical pistons that grant irreversibility of motion. a) Reduction to the minimum of vibrations i.e. quality of printing. b) Elimination of the “bar problem”, tipical of other flexo machines c) Easyness and quickness in changing the anilox cylinder and printing cylinder. Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. Hi-DinamiX System: thanks to this new pneumatical-based locking concept, the A.B.S. Unit  produces an auto-fitting dynamic pressure on the anilox roller, resulting in the highest quality of ink distribution. All the usual mechanical  regulations of the blade, typical of  other flexo presses, disappear. The blade is auto-fitted to the desired pressure over the anilox, gaining: Perfect parallelism of the blade over the anilox, reached automatically Auto adaptive system even when the blade is consumed during the process Longer anilox life, thanks to perfect pressure Maximum homogeneity in ink distribution, resulting in the highest printing quality Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l.

Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. Hi-TactyL System: the unit is equipped with full touch covering panel, giving to the operator a full tactile feeling. All the operations of the main panel are locally integrated in the print unit touch unit and the register regulation are electronically driven by trackball system. Sequential Inking system: When the machine stops, the ink roller (anilox) is first removed, followed (after a settable time) by the print cylinder, in order to clean ink in excess (an essential operation when using non-UV inks). 3: Minimum Waste Features Print Quality would make no sense if the amount of material required to achive it would be too high. In fact the real production parameter that the Printing Company faces in everyday life is the Productivity, which is related to the ratio Quality/Cost. Among the variables affecting the cost there is the amount of substrate wasted to run a new job. Instant Pre-Register: when the photocell of the first unit reads the mark reference, this information is shooted to all the following units, which start pre-register procedure before the printed substrate reaches their locations. This makes possible that when the print pattern of the first color reaches the following units (colors and dies) they have already found their register positions over it. Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. Auto Gain Register control: if keeping the proper register is important, to mantain it during the printing process is even more. In fact this is the warranty of a constant print quality during the run. Here comes the striking concept of Lombardi Auto Gain register concept. It is the only one with automatic gain learning and setting. Our system has been studied to be “Smart”. What does it mean to be “Smart” for a register Control? Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l.

Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l. All the usual register controls have a setting page in which the operator can change some parameters, depending on the king of substrate they are printing on. One of these (the crucial one) is the Gain. This tells to the drives in which percentage they have to correct the errors detected by the photocells. It is mainly a measure of how much the drives correction must be “aggressive”. This is a very delicate parameter because to be excessively aggressive on one substrate would result In loss of register accuracy. In usual presses, this parameter is set manually, and it is mainly a question of operator experience to set it at the best value. Lombardi press is the only with automatic Gain setting. Our Register Control System reads and analizes in real-time the statistics of the errors and finds automatically the best-fit of the system parameters. This results in a big difference, in these aspects: The system is automatic, so the operator has nothing to set The parametrization is always perfect, because it is COMPUTED, not ESTIMATED by a person The gain is VARIABLE in time. That is, it adapts during the process following material properties (that can be different from the beginning to the end of the coil). In other machines it is a manually set constant. In technical language Lombardi gain is a “time dependent adaptive variable”, in other presses the gain is a “manual constant”. Lombardi Converting Machinery S.r.l.

SCREENLINE is a machine for the production of silk-screen printed labels, reel to reel or reel to sheet, equipped with electronic boards of the latest generation for the running of brushless motors. All the adjustments and the speed change happen when the machine is in motion; moreover, each single unit has its own independent brushless motors.

Digistar

DIGISTAR is a machine developed for the finishing of labels pre-printed with digital or other impression processes. The latest technology in finishing labels: flexo varnishing, cold foil, hot foil, semi-rotary diecutting after digital printing.
