Title I - Parent Involvement Responsibilities Include Providing Information, Inclusion in the Decision Making Process, and Engaging Parents in Students’ Learning Parent Involvement requirements were defined in the passing of No Child Left Behind (2001). Title I emphasizes parental involvement as one of the most effective strategies in raising student achievement. Title I schools and districts share three primary responsibilities: I. Providing information. II. Involving families in decisions that affect their children’s schools and services. III. Engaging families in students’ learning.

NCLB Requires Districts to Reserve 1% of the Title 1 Allocation for Parental Involvement Activities NCLB requires districts receiving more than $500,000 in Title I, Part A funds to reserve 1% of the total allocation for parent involvement activities. An LEA is required to distribute at least 95% of the reservation to Title I schools for campus-led activities. Formula used to determine per-pupil allocations for schools is used to distribute parent involvement funds to Title I schools. Schools determine how the funds will be spent based on parent input and identified needs.

Second Mile Development and Federal Programs are Working Together to Provide Additional Parent Services Second Mile Development: A non-profit group dedicated to building relationships and community through the empowerment of parents. Federal Programs has partnered with Second Mile in a Parent Initiative designed to provide additional parent services in all Title I schools. Second Mile Parent Initiative team will : I. Provide an additional coordinator (each school) for monthly workshop training and parent contact support. II. Work in tandem with the principal and school based parent involvement designee. III. Provide documentation of attendance, evaluations and celebrations from each parent party!

Federal Programs Parental Involvement Staff Supports All Title I Schools Federal Programs will provide: Student Outreach – Parent Liaison Specialist will provide additional parent and student outreach support in all Title I schools. Part time - Parent Involvement contract will support the Parent Initiative and Parent Involvement federal requirements. In addition, Federal Programs will conduct Parent Workshops in each of the Title I schools each semester. Topics focus on Homework and Study Skills, Planning an Academic Future, and Career Related Interests and Needs. First semester workshops are complete!

Title VII - Indian Education Program Goals are to Increase Academic Achievement and Parental Involvement 2015-2016 Indian Education Program Goals: Increase academic achievement and parental involvement. Provide registered students and parents with college preparation information (grant and scholarship writing). Ancestry studies to encourage the sharing of family history. Family study of healthy habits traced to Native American heritage. Participation Requirements: Provable Native American heritage through verified 506 forms
