Art Learning Journey Year 1 and 2 – Summer Term 2015 Who was Claude Monet? Where and when did he live? What style was his art work? How can we use art pastels to recreate Monet’s “Water Lily Pond” painting? Recreate Monets Water Lily Pond by building up dots or small marks with art pastels in different shades of green, blue, yellow and white. Find out about Claude Monet using information books and the internet. Look carefully at his water lily art work and discuss his technique. Art Learning Journey Year 1 and 2 – Summer Term 2015 How can we use different grades of pencils to create lines, shade and patterns in our observational drawings? How can we use clay to create a leaf design wall hanging? Roll out clay and make leaf impressions using different shaped leaves. Use clay tools to cut around leaves. When dry paint in shades of green using acrylic or poster paints. Look carefully at a range of plants with different leaf shapes and patterns (e.g. spider plants, ivy). Make observational pencil drawings.
