Storage system startup procedure Managing HP Enterprise Virtual Array EVA4400 Controller and Management Module Verify that fabric switches connected to controllers are powered up and fully booted. Power indicator on each switch should be on. If powering on SAN switches, let them complete boot. Power-up the circuit breaker on each rack PDU to power up the drive shelves. Verify that all drive enclosures are operating. Status and power indicators should be on (solid green LED). Power-on controller enclosure to power-on both controllers. After system starts, connect to WOCP to verify display of storage system name and WWN. Start Command View EVA and verify connection to the storage system and its status. Instructor notes Unlike other generations of the EVA, when you power-up the controller enclosure, it is likely that both controllers will finish booting at the same time, in which case the left controller will become the master. Configuring the embedded switch Managing HP Enterprise Virtual Array EVA4400 Controller and Management Module Embedded switches in HSV300-S controller have default IP addresses. May not be visible to network. Configuration changes must be made to both switches. Connect a cable from the Ethernet port of each switch to a laptop or PC and supply valid addresses. Use a Cat 5e or greater cable. Alternatively, connect using the console port and cable. Use same IP range as embedded switch. Details are in HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array Installation Guide. Also see HP StorageWorks Fabric OS 6.2.0 Administrator Guide. Instructor notes The full procedure from the HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array Installation Guide is in the student guide. Default addresses are 10.77.77.77 and 10.77.77.78 for controllers 1 and 2. A console cable is provided with the EVA4400, part number 259992-001.
