NOVEMBER 16 1945 UNESCO was rose from ruins of war: Building Peace in the minds of men and women The Preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO declares that "since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed". 1948: UNESCO recommends that Member States make free primary education compulsory and universal. 1948: First OMEP’s Assembly in Prague (19 countries from 5 continents)

2th UNESCO-NGO Forum Water Access for All in Africa July 2014 :Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast)

OMEP is involved in two projects after Yamoussoukro: 1- Training for Maintenance Technicians: from spring to tap: UNESCO sponsored projects for training 30 people Scholarships supported by governements, NGO, companies and other sponsors….. 2- Education Campaign: safe water supply in the Ivory Coast - media support (TV- cellular phone) - together with the Ministry of Education

OMEP celebrated World Teachers’ Day 5th October 2015 in Paris Play-based Learning in Rural China: Lessons from Teacher Exchange ,Programmes by Maggie KOONG OMEP World President Dr. Maggie Koong and representatives of OMEP-France celebrated the World Teachers’ Day at UNESCO headquarter in Paris on October 5, 2015. Maggie was also invited as a featured panelist at the roundtable “Teaching young children for a sustainable future: Innovation, lessons and way forward” and shared her insights on “Play-based learning in rural China”. Together, Maggie and OMEP’s Representative to UNESCO Lisbeth Gouin submitted OMEP’s Request to launch a Decade for Early Childhood Care and Education to Dr. Qian Tang, Assistant Director-General for Education, UNESCO.
