In 1999 the ‘Doctors Without Borders’ organisation, with him as the President, received the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of the organisation’s pioneering humanitarian work on several continents. In 1991, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work. In 2004 she received the Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace. In 1993, Nelson Mandela and Frederic Willem de Klerk were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work for the peaceful termination apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa. Serving as the seventh Secretary-General of the UN (United Nations), he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work for a better organised and more peaceful world.
