While in Resolution Period… Quickly scan the case facts Set deadlines (i.e. finish quantitative analysis by 9:15 am) Time Allocation Is Important Who you are & who you are presenting to What the problems and core issues are What is required from you Determine Key Points Once finished reading the case, put together a shell of your slide deck Know at which points you are transitioning slides to another teammate Practice presentation if there is time Prepare for Presentation Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

When developing content… Keep in mind 1) Who you are 2) Who you are presenting to 3) What the problem or ‘ask’ is Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

Include Quantitative Analysis… Sensitivity Analysis High / Low Scenarios Projections Numbers in your presentation are a must But be selective  show numbers at a high level Save complicated schedules & statements for the appendix Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

To make an effective recommendation… Alternative courses of action should be presented Consistent criteria should be used to evaluate alternatives Show why your recommendation is the best / most feasible Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

When designing slides… -Utilize simple colours -Make use of white space -Consistent fonts -Apply Smart Art -Excessive colour / details -Avoid bullet points -Mismatched colours  stick to a theme When designing slides… Do’s Don’ts Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

Coordinate with your team… Try to coordinate outfits to look consistent If possible, match colour of outfit to slide deck Match Your teammates and their strengths / weaknesses This will help when answering questions Know Know when you are passing the floor to your teammates Mix up the transitions (don’t say “Now I’ll pass to…” every time) Flow Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

Don’ts for presenting… Avoid saying “um” and “uh”; take a pause when needed Know your audience  if you are a consultant, don’t say “our” company, say “your” company Watch the time – don’t go over and under, speak for longer at the end if needed Speaking Don’t look back at the slides when your teammates are speaking; look at the audience Watch your hands and avoid distracting movements Body Language Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period

When answering questions… Always consider the question: “How much will this cost?” When answering questions… Step forward Ask for clarification if needed Add on to teammate’s answer (if needed), BUT Do not contradict your teammates Do not add on to an answer more than once Resolution Content Do’s / Don’ts Presentation Question Period
