Антарктида Урок английского языка в 9 классе МБОУ «Серебрянская школа-детский сад» Антарктида

Antarctica is the Earth's most southern continent located at the South Pole.

About 98 percent of Antarctica is covered by ice.

There are no trees or bushes that grow in the Antarctic, only moss and algae.

Whales, seals and birds live in the waters and coastal areas of the Antarctic.

Penguins are the most famous inhabitants of the Antarctic.

These birds can't fly and live on the ice sheets and coastal waters.

Global warming and pollution are threatening this precious ecosystem.

Before the 1960s there was no regulation or protection of Antarctica.

The Antarctic treaty now protects all the animals and plants there and prohibits pollution in the area.

Pollution of the sea is prohibited and no Antarctic animal can be captured or hunted. .

Special permits are given to visit the area to those that are approved by the treaty.
