Ocean plays essential role in maintaining Earth’s environment for human and ecological communities. But we rarely feel it in our daily life. There is very few chance to know about the ocean in the classroom. In this lecture meeting, ocean experts will tell you about the ocean plainly from various viewpoints: almost 4000 Argo floats measuring the global ocean, climate, fishery resources, etc., providing source of stories in classroom… Lectures: (1) Argo Program Howard Freeland (Argo Director) (2) Ocean and climate Tatsuo Nakamura (JMA) (3) Gifts from the sea Takeshi Okunishi (FRA) Demonstration: Argo web sites Shigeki Hosoda (JAMSTEC) Discussion Date & Time: March 26, 2016, 9:30 – 15:00 Admission Free maximum 100 seats Organized by: Tohoku University Grad School of Science & IRIDeS Co-organized by: JMA Sendai Branch TRIF of FRA, Leading P of TU Sponsored by: Oceanographic Soc of Japan Meteorological S0c of Japan “Measuring the Ocean” -- Ocean Obs and our life -- Place: Aoba Science Hall Grad School of Science Tohoku University Contact: Toshio Suga, TU
