Knowing God Immutability

Knowing God: Immutability Malachi 3:6 I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

Knowing God: Immutability Immutability means that God doesn’t change

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 1) God’s life does not change Psalm 102:25-27 - In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 1) God’s life does not change Exodus 3:13,14  Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 2) God’s character does not change Ex 34:5-7 - Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 3) God’s truth does not change Isaiah 40:6-8 - A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 3) God’s truth does not change Psalm 119:89 - Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 4) God’s ways do not change Malachi 3:6 - I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 4) God’s ways do not change James 1:17 -  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 5) God’s plans do not change Psalm 33:11 - But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 5) God’s plans do not change 1 Samuel 15:29 -  He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”

Knowing God: Immutability Defining God’s Immutability 6) God’s Son does not change Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
