Boards include seven community members, of which at least three of those members being a family member of an individual with a developmental disability. The Board Members govern the work of the County Board of DD. In conjunction with the county Superintendent and his/her staff ensures the development and operation of local programs that are responsive to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. WHO ARE OHIO’S COUNTY DD BOARDS? MISSION: Provide supports and services to people with developmental disabilities (DD) in Ohio WHO WE SERVE: Ohio’s county boards support more than 90,000 children and adults every year WHERE WE SERVE: All 88 Ohio counties County Board of DD members are appointed by county commissioners and probate judges. Boards include seven community members, of which at least three of those members being a family member of an individual with a developmental disability. The Board Members govern the work of the County Board of DD. In conjunction with the county Superintendent and his/her staff ensures the development and operation of local programs that are responsive to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. HOW DO WE SUPPORT PEOPLE? County boards oversee case management and: Early childhood services Educational services Supported living & residential services Family support services Job training & employment services Specialized supports to address unique needs Funds are raised and services are managed at the county level to support OUR communities. — Continued local funding is critical to support individual needs and programs. CHANGE IS A CONSTANT CHALLENGE Ohio’s county boards are constantly evolving and overcoming challenges in order to meet the needs of people in our communities: Workforce shortages State and federal regulatory changes Public perceptions of people with disabilities It is critical that our employees, partners, and communities understand that county boards provide vital, life-long resources for people with developmental disabilities and their families. With our support, funding and access to vital resources help serve the lifelong needs of people with developmental disabilities.
