About Us EMMA : Mention that MCFEA have funded CU before, for the PREPP (Promoting the Economic Empowerment of Small-Scale Agricultural Producers ) in Guinea 2007-11 €over 4 years Achieved Food Security for 8,400 people from 1,200 households United Purpose (UP) is an international development charity with an innovative community led approach to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals and eradicating global poverty and inequality. We lift people up out of poverty by providing solutions to poverty that last. Our unique approach combines high quality intelligent development, disruptive innovation and enabling independence making us a powerful agent of change.

With a global turnover of £20 million and annual support to 3 million people we have been successful in growing our impact and reputation. Our income has increased significantly in the past few years. We are now looking to develop further funding relationships, more rigorously measure our impact and continue to invest in our devolved, community-led approach to development.

The Gambia United Purpose (UP), formerly known as Concern Universal is an international NGO operating in The Gambia for over 22 years with its head quarter’s located in the United Kingdom (UK). UP has a trademark approach to development that is based on the principle of partnerships with local development organisations. UP works to develop genuine and effective partnerships with local organisations where the primary point of convergence for UP and each of our partners is the communities that we each serve and support. Through the experience of long-term partnership, UP and its partners developed genuine synergy and ensure that project delivery is both effective (by maximising impacts on target groups) and efficient (by maximising outputs with limited project resources). UP will coordinate and manage the project, as well as maintain responsibility and communication with the donor.

The Bio Fortification Project Aimed at reducing under nutrition and poverty of vulnerable populations (especially women & children<5yrs) in the Gambia by strengthening sustainable access to and consumption of fortified foods. Improved nutrition and food security of 18,000 rural households in 5 regions through increased, diversified production, stronger value chains, better market access to and consumption of fortified & high micro nutrient foods. Strengthen the enabling environment for expansion of conventional and bio food fortification in the Gambia.
