Earn a college degree from HCC Students earn a A.A. degree from HCC/South Shore while earning a high school diploma. Students take courses on the Lennard campus freshman year and then take courses at HCC/South Shore during the sophomore, junior and senior years. Program application Requirements: Complete Algebra I by end of 8th grade with an A, B or C. High standardized test scores on FSA/FCAT writing. Benefits An earned A.A. in liberal arts from Hillsborough Community College (HCC), a regionally accredited institutions (SACS). A.A degree or most credits transfer to most colleges and universities. Tuition and textbooks at no cost to students and families. Facilitates admission to competitive four-year colleges and universities. Students may participate in all after school programs. Students may be inducted in the community college national honor society (Phi Theta Kappa).

Points of Pride Currently we have 254 students in the Collegiate Academy at Lennard high school. Largest of the Collegiate Academies. Courses offered at HCC SouthShore and Lennard HS. On track to graduate our first A.A. candidates in the spring of 2017.

Requirements to remain in the program Must maintain a 3.0 un-weighted HS GPA and a 2.0 HCC GPA throughout the program. P.E.R.T. scores of 106 reading, 103 writing and 114 (123) math. SAT scores of 440 Verbal/440 math or ACT scores 19 reading,17 English and 17 math. Students must earn a 106 PERT reading and a PERT writing score of 103 by the end of their freshman year to remain in the program. Students must earn a 114 PERT math score by the end of sophomore year to remain in the program.

Athletics Athletics: Sports offered include football, soccer, baseball, softball, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, swimming, flag football, cheerleading, tennis, track and field, golf and cross country. Collegiate academy students may participate in all sports.

Clubs and School Organizations Academic clubs include DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, International Thespian Society, National Honor Society, American Chemistry Society, Debate Club and Spanish National Honors Society. Service clubs include the Key Club and Student Government. Special Interest clubs include Anime Club, Astronomy Club, Ceramics Club, Collegiate Academy Club, Disney Analysis Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Film Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, Girls that Lift Club, Hip Hop Club, Ladies in Essence, Poetry Appreciation Club, Painting Club, Robotics, Table Top Gaming Club, and TV Production. We also have a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior Class Council.

The Goal

College Skills 1. Reading for comprehension. Vocab/build on prior knowledge/re-read/take notes. 2. Note taking skills. Short-hand, important info, id material that is repeated or identified as important by instructor. 3. Writing Skills. Thesis, sources, outline, 1st draft, proof read, final product. 4. Study skills. Rewrite notes, study cards, over time, do not cram. 5. Research skills. Web search/reputable sites/digital library/ Media center.

Study practices 1. Time management. 2. Calculate the amount of work to be completed per week. 3. Take notes. 4. Read all required readings. 5.Find place to study. 6. Establish study groups. 7. Create a routine. 8. Study for exam/start major assignments 2 weeks in advance.

Q/A Required PERT Scores? Writing 103, Reading 106 and Math 114. When do we go across the street? Sophomore year during 7th and 8th period. Students take 3 HCC course per semester. Is this program being discontinued? No. All students in the classes of 2016-2019 will be able to earn their A.A. degree. Does a dual Enrollment class count for a high school graduation? Yes. Most classes will take the place of a requirement or elective. Do all schools (Florida and outside of Florida) accept the AA from HCC? Yes. Florida state universities are required to accept all college courses from HCC. All Florida public college/universities use a statewide course numbering system. HCC is SACS accredited, so all regionally accredited colleges generally choose to accept credits.
