Introduction We experience a lot of situations in our daily life which relate to chemistry. Its just that all of those experiences were left unnoticed, but now we can relate !

Elements of the Periodic Table Contents Changes of Matter Elements of the Periodic Table Power of Hydrogen

Changes of matter It is a physical change when there is a change of state in solid, liquid or gas. The substance changes its state by either gaining or losing energy. It involves the following changes : Boiling = Liquid to gas Melting = Solid to Liquid Subliming = Solid to Gas Condensing = Gas to Liquid Freezing = Liquid to Solid Deposition = Gas to Solid

Changes of matter cont. Boiling = Liquid to gas Melting = Solid to Liquid

Changes of matter cont. Subliming = Solid to Gas Condensing = Gas to Liquid

Changes of matter cont. Freezing = Liquid to Solid Now we are able to relate the physical changes happening around us all the time

Elements of the Periodic Table Hydrogen Nitrogen Calcium Neon Oxygen Copper Tin Iron Silver Gold Magnesium Aluminum Mercury Helium

Power of Hydrogen pH measures the hydrogen ion concentration, we can determine whether solutions are acidic , basic or neutral.

Power of hydrogen Water – 6.8 – 7.3 Urine - 4.6 - 8 Milk – 6.5 – 6.7 Stomach Acid – 1 Coffee – 3 Baking soda – 12 Blood - 7.35 - 7.45 Skin – 5.5

Thank YOU Any questions?
