IBM can provide support that matches the deliverables of the OEM at a significant price savings to the customer IBM SSR’s, trust and experience IBM trained SSR’s working directly with the SME’s for each supported product – high quality onsite resources partnered with high quality remote expertise to resolve problems quickly and professionally. IMS, easier to sell, easier to fulfill, ready to deliver at a competitive price: All-inclusive support offerings, including hardware, software, and Phone-Home deliverables, at a single price point, simplifying the solutioning process Key IMS Messages: Optimal lifecycle maintenance management. IMS for HP - Differentiation Automated phone-home: Phone-Home capabilities with no impact to current customer monitoring tools and no special networking configurations required Automated service ticket creation through Phone-Home events Audax support and service capabilities within IMS Phone-based triage (PD/PSI) support provided by SMEs, technical action plans created and shared with IBM SSRs prior to repair activity, as well as active engagement between customer, SME, and SSR during actual repair. Software support for usage and assistance with customer administration tasks (helpdesk) on the 3PAR and EVA devices Remedial software support (break/fix) on the management software for the EVA and 3PAR devices Performance and Capacity Monitoring and Migration Strategy assistance available with standard support of 3PAR and EVA Assistance with upgrades and patches of 3PAR or EVA management software, if required (requires that customer purchase necessary software and licenses from OEM)

Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is it possible for entities other than the OEM support an 3PAR? A: IBM can fully support the 3PAR storage platform, including the InForm management software. The IBM support offering does not utilize any OEM proprietary software or diagnostic tools - all management software is licensed "in perpetuity" at time of purchase by the OEM and ongoing support is not required to continue to use the 3PAR management software. Customers can "freeze" their current version of InForm and continue to manage their existing 3PARs - the only need for an update to InForm would be if the customer purchases a newer model of 3PAR that is not supported by the customer’s current version. However, new sales of 3PARs typically include the required version of InForm for the new 3PAR model (in most cases, newer versions of InForm are backwards compatible with older 3PARs). (same answer for the EVA) Q: Can IBM remotely monitor an EVA? Can IBM receive Phone-Home alerts from an EVA? A: IBM's EVA support offering includes Phone-Home alerting for hardware problems with any EVA model. The IBM Phone-Home solution does not impact any existing monitoring configurations and does not require any specialized network or security changes to implement. All aspects of the EVA are monitored, including Disks, Power/Cooling systems, Fibre Channel ports, and miscellaneous performance-related metrics. EVA Phone-Home alerting is included in IBM's standard EVA support offering. (same answer for the 3PAR)

Frequently Asked Questions Q: What limitations are there to IBM's 3PAR support? A: IBM is unable to provide updates to the InForm software, as the software is only available directly from the OEM. A support contract with the OEM is not required to obtain an updated version of the InForm software, as a customer can purchase updates even when not under support, if a new version is required. Typically, however, customers do not require updates to InForm unless a customer purchases a newer model of 3PAR; in that case, the purchase of the new 3PAR will include an updated version of InForm to monitor the entire customer 3PAR environment. (same answer for the EVA)

IMS for HP will be enhanced to include support for HP9000 and Integrity servers, including the HP Superdome and HP BladeSystem Integrity Blades IBM will have a complete IMS program for HP enterprise servers and storage, including hardware, software, and Phone-Home deliverables Uncertainty among the HP installed base is elevated due to organizational instability, and now is the perfect time to offer IBM customers an alternative to HP support More to come during the January 2015 launch!
