Let’s find out some basic terms What do organisms eat? Let’s find out some basic terms

Who eats whom? OMNIVORE EATEN BY CARNIVORE EATEN BY EATEN BY HERBIVORE

What are these terms again? Herbivore: An organism that eats plants Carnivore: An organism that eats animals Omnivore: An organism that eats plants and animals

What is a Food Chain? The food chain is the feeding order of organisms in a community Example What does a food chain look like?

Members of a Food Chain The plants are eaten by the rabbit, the rabbit is eaten by the wolf

What is the plant? Who are the players? The rabbit is a what? The wolf is a what? What is the plant?

New Terms Producers: Organisms that make, or produce, their own food Consumers: Organisms that feed on, or consume, other organisms Decomposers: Organisms that feed on dead organisms So, What are plants?

Plants are Producers! Consumers Producers
