Technical assistance for project preparation - Modernization of railway line Sofia-Pernik-Radomir-Gyueshevo-border with Republic of Macedoania Funding - operational axis 1, OPTTI - 9 765 700 eur The preparation of the railway section will be carried out during the programming period 2014 – 2020 In progress is a technical design and preparation of detailed site development plan for modernization of section Sofia – Pernik – Radomir Preparation of railway section Radomir – Gyushevo – border with Republic of Macedonia to stage “mature project” started in 2016 and should be completed by the end of 2019. It is expected in early 2017 to sign a contract for optimization and updating of the conceptual design. Forthcoming activities: Update of conceptual design of the railway section Radomir – Gyueshevo to reduce construction costs/value and final choice of трасе Complementing the EIA report and performance of archeological excavations Preparation of technical project and detailed site development plan of the railway section Radomir – border with Republic of Macedonia Evaluation for interoperability of the project Conformity assessment under LSP Acquisition procedures Building permit Expected announcement of the procedure for selecting a contractor in February 2017 On 13.06.2016 was submitted Application Form for financing preparation, according to requirements of OPTTI 2014 – 2020

Feasibility studies for the development of alternative railway lines North-South Funding – operational axis 3, OPTTI – 1 278 229 eur Main direction of feasibility studies: Ruse – Gorna Orqhovitsa – Dubovo/Tulovo – Stara Zagora – Mihailovo – Dimitrovgrad, Podkova to Greek border (extension to Komotini) Ruse – Kaspichan – Sindel – Karnobat – Qmbol – Elhovo – Turkish border ( extension to Odrin or Kirklareli) Forthcoming activities: Feasibility studies, analysis of existing capacity, throughput analysis, analysis of speed and gauge restrictions of directions, analysis of potential freight traffic Option of version for development of meridian railway directions North – South, (from Danube river to Turkish/Greek border), in connection with the project realization of intermodal terminal Ruse.
