Was South Carolina successful or not? Yes it was successful.

When was South Carolina established? South Carolina was originally all one colony when joined with North Carolina and they both were called Carolina. Carolina was established in 1663. Carolina was separated into North Carolina and South Carolina in 1729.

Why was South Carolina established? Charles II was interested in the land between Virginia and Spanish Florida. Even though he was interested in the land he awarded it to 8 of his friends (noblemen) instead of keeping it for himself.

Who was the founder and landowner? Charles II was the founder of the land but he gave a royal charter to 8 English nobles.

What did South Carolina produce to export and make money? South Carolina produced and exported tobacco, cotton, rice, indigo, lumber, and furs. South Carolina also exported Native Americans.

Who made up the colonists? South Carolina was mostly made up of a small group of farmers. Around ⅔ of the population was African descent.

What form of government did South Carolina have? South Carolina was governed as a Royal colony.

What region did South Carolina become associated with? It was associated with the Southern colonies such as: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Founders and Owners

Climate The southern colonies were warmer than the other 3 regions. Winters were usually easy to survive. The weather was so hot that it would sometimes bring harsh diseases.

Religion South Carolina allowed religious freedom, but some of the main practices were Baptism and Anglicanism.
