Support for StudOrg Fundraising The CSU-Pueblo Foundation encourages StudOrg Fundraising! Questions or Concerns: Jennifer Denton Chief Operations Officer CSU-Pueblo Foundation 719-549-2965 jennifer.denton@colostate-pueblo.edu

Thinking It Through What are your goals? How much $$ do you need to accomplish those goals? What is your anticipated income (from dues, SOF grants, other sources)? How big is the gap? How will you fill it? Budget for expenses, sales tax, etc. Fundraising is a means to an end.

Multifaceted Private Support Contributions Fundraising Revenue Given by a DONOR Received from a CUSTOMER or SUPPORTER Cash True donations (where the donor receives nothing in return) Auction item proceeds which are significantly greater than the value of the item (thereby showing the donor’s charitable intent) Proceeds from sales Event entry fees Auction proceeds Raffle proceeds Sponsorships In-Kind Items for use in meeting the StudOrg’s mission Free or discounted items for use in fundraising activities

Seeking Support Your appeal message, letter, and/or form must be preapproved by the Office of Student Activities in consultation with CSU-Pueblo Foundation. Your list of donor/sponsor prospects must also be preapproved. Approval must occur TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE… sometimes it can take longer… so plan ahead.

Resources You’ll Need Read/Review Print or Submit StudOrg Survival Guide “Treasury Files” Print or Submit “Forms” Fundraising Request Form “Fundraising Files” In-Kind Donation Form

Contributions: Making the Ask Understand the prospect’s interests. Create win-win outcomes. Tell a compelling story. Offer a second option. Don’t take “no” personally. “There’s no such thing as failure; only feedback.”
