NEXT GENERATION WIRELESS NETWORKS: SCALABILITY, FLEXIBILITY, AND INTEROPERABILITY By Dr.G.K.D.Prasanna Venkatesan, Professor Research and Development Cell SNS College of Engineering

Next Generation Networks??

SCALABILITY Scalable cooperative communications and network coding Scalable data-centric wireless network architecture Scalable energy efficiency wireless network Scalable social-aware wireless network architecture Standards for scalable, flexible, and interoperable wireless networks

FLEXIBILITY Flexible architecture for applications with diverse data rates Flexible architecture for systems and applications with diverse mobility requirements Flexible cognitive radio and spectrum access

INTEROPERABILITY Interoperability between future Internet and wireless networks Interoperability among diverse wireless networks Namespace management in heterogeneous wireless networks Routing in large-scale multihop wireless network Security design on wireless scalability, flexibility, and interoperability

CASE STUDY-1 The most recent stats regarding eBay state that: • It managers 248,000,000 registered users • It manages over 1 Billion photos • eBay has nearly 10,000 live applications • eBay averages well over 1 billion page views per day • The eBay platform handles 4.4 billion API calls per month • 100,000+ lines of code are added every two weeks • There are 30,000 software builds per week • There are more than 44 billion SQL executions per day

CASE STUDY-2 As IoT applications emerge and begin to be deployed, traditional architectural concepts have created unnecessary restrictions or have even become roadblocks. The fluidity of IoT intelligence and functions between sensors, silicon, and software and the tools used to develop them require more flexibility and adaptability. Can flexibility be built into the IoT architecture without losing structure and interoperability? How does this flexibility work within various use cases? What kinds of industry examples are there to demonstrate flexible frameworks in action? View this webinar to hear our panel of IoT experts address these questions and discuss in detail the tools and technologies that support the IoT flexible framework.

CASE STUDY-3 In Telecommunication , the term can be defined as: The ability to provide services to and accept services from other systems, and to use the services exchanged to enable them to operate effectively. The condition achieved among  systems or items of communications-electronics equipment when services can be exchanged directly and satisfactorily between them and/or their users. The degree of interoperability should be defined when referring to specific cases. In duplex communication interoperability is composed of three dimensions: compatible communications paths (compatible frequencies, equipment and signaling), radio system coverage or adequate signal strength, and scalable capacity.

Data Game!!!

Smart city and IOT

Future of IOT The forecasts predicted by the Ericsson Mobility report issued in June 2016 clearly states that as many as 16 billion connected devices will be Internet of Things (IoT) technology-enabled by 2021. Globally, most analysts affirm the path of technological advancement is leading towards the path of IoT.

Smart city and IOT Small chips and devices are making everything technology controlled with an aim to make life easier. Detection of waste levels in bins for proper waste management in cities, smart parking and traffic guide, environment and water management using devices— IoT use cases are infinite and Multidimensional.

Smart city and IOT The IoT market in India is projected to grow over a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 28% through 2020. The government programmes such as Digital India, which aims to unite the nation with high-speed digital highways and connect 1.2 billion Indians, 100 Smart Cities, Make in India and other such initiatives.

IEEE ARTICLE Recent Advances in Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks Toward Efficient Management in IoT

ECOSYSTEM FORMED BY INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCES Technically speaking, current WSN solutions can be categorized as non-IP based and IP based solutions Key Players : ZigBee and WAVE2M Wireless Hart, PROFIBUS for real-time industrial control systems, etc

Key Benefits Of Open Cloud Platform For IoT Low Cost for Deploying a IoT Service: Scalability on Resource Utilization: Interoperability Across Application Domains: Quick and Easy Implementation: Quality of Service (QoS) Guarantee: Anywhere Access:

Architecture of the management platform on the Cloud.

FUTURE WORK Real-time management is a challenging issue for resource constrained sensor networks. In this case, the IoT system needs to rely on efficient service gateway, design to minimize the amount of data to be sent by constantly reviewing the data from users

FUTURE WORK Security, trust and privacy are also important issues To be considered in practical applications. there are both hard way and soft way methods to achieve different degrees of security.

FUTURE WORK.. Dynamic registration, bootstrap and management will be particularly considered for a large scale deployment with devices coming in and out and changing their characteristics and functionalities. The IoT device management should be suitable to develop an open and universal ecosystem with sustainable interactions and interoperability among things.
