Uninterruptible Power Supply - Interrupted 1. What Fire alarm systems have been triggered several times in recent years due to the failure of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. To date these have only resulted in smoke. 2. Why UPS systems are increasingly used to assure supply to critical estates, IT or other equipment. As a new technology that is being widely employed the need for active maintenance of such systems might not be recognised. 3. Learning If you have UPS systems installed on: scientific equipment / facilities; IT equipment; or estates infrastructure please check that you understand their maintenance programmes and ensure that the maintenance has been undertaken. Further detail can be obtained from your local SHE Group Issued May 17
