Staff Survey 2013 Friday 11 January 2013

Staff Survey 2013 The 2013 Staff Survey will run from 11 March - 19 April All ‘core’ staff will be included Run by Capita to ensure anonymity and confidentiality Will take no more than 15 minutes to complete Aiming for a 50% completion rate which will be a target in APRs

Staff Survey 2013 Results will be used to create action plans aimed at improving employee engagement Target of 80% staff satisfaction by 2020 in the University’s Strategic Plan Benchmark against similar universities Staff Survey Steering Group will continue to meet on an ongoing basis to track progress

Staff Survey 2013 Questionnaire is currently being developed and refined Combining standard questions for benchmarking and Manchester relevant questions A final draft will be agreed in January 2013 and piloted with a small group of staff

Staff Survey 2013 Previous surveys have revealed some real issues and challenges: Anonymity and confidentiality Lack of engagement strategy Inconsistent management structures Results and action planning Tracking progress

Staff Survey 2013 As leaders and managers you will have a vital role to play in communicating with your staff You need to demonstrate a real commitment to sharing the results and developing action plans Your staff need to believe that their views count and change will happen

Staff Survey 2013 Capita will send an email on 11 March with a link to the survey Paper copies will be available for staff who don’t have email access at work You should allow staff time to complete the survey

Staff Survey 2013 Target completion rate of 50% Incentives will be used to encourage completion: iPads charitable donation Capita can track completion rates by organisational units while the survey is live You will receive an update on your completion rate if it is flagged up by Capita

Staff Survey 2013 A communications campaign is being developed featuring: Pre-survey senior management briefings Broadcast channels prior to launch and during the survey Communication of results and action plans at a University level and locally Ongoing communication about progress against action plans

Staff Survey 2013 11 March – 19 April – survey live May – University-level results to SLT June – draft action plans to SLT July – budget setting and approval of action plans September – actions begin
