Think of an acronym for a rainbow: Ask students to come up with an acronym for a rainbow and explain that sometimes it is useful to come up with a different way to remember things. Explain this can be compared to the Qur’an as there are other holy books to help Muslims follow their religion.

Sometimes its easier to remember things in a different way!

Holy Books in Islam Learning Objective: To explore 4 other holy books that have been revealed by God. I can give examples of 4 other holy books in Islam. I can evaluate the authority of the holy books in Islam. I can explain the status and authority of these holy books.

What can you remember for last lesson? Qur’an Recap What can you remember for last lesson? The Quran Get students to complete a tedious link as a recap on the Qur’an from last lesson. This is to remind students that the Qur’an is the main source of authority for Muslims before they begin learning about the 4 other holy books. Jibril Distorted Authority Muhammad Arabic The Recital 114 Surahs 22 years Advice

Now we need to find out about them! The other holy books… Now we need to find out about them! TAWRAT ZABUR INJUL SUHUF

The Holy Books Tawrat (Torah) Zabur (The Psalms) Injil (The Gospel) 5 books in the Torah Revelations to Musa (Moses) Put together long after Moses death It offers (guidance and light) Additions and subtractions have been made to the original text The book of Psalms A collection of prayers They offer guidance The predicted the coming of the messiah The Scrolls of Abraham Injil (The Gospel) Gospels of Jesus They show respect for Jesus They say he was a Messiah NOT the son of Allah Written by his disciples who had a weak understanding Scrolls of Abraham Written on parchment that has now gone The revelations given to Ibrahim and some of the earliest scriptures

Authority of the holy books It is important to remember that Muslims believe the only holy book in Islam which has not been distorted or changed is the Qur’an as this was God’s final message. Therefore, whilst the holy books are useful for learning about the revelations of God they do not have the same authority as the Qur’an.

Create you book covers! You are going to create a front cover and a blurb for each of the 4 holy books. Cut a piece of card into 4 and fold them into a book cover. You need to include: Title Outline/Blurb Author How is it an Authority Score them out of 5 for subject content and accuracy

Holy Books in Islam Learning Objective: To explore 4 other holy books that have been revealed by God. I can give examples of 4 other holy books in Islam. I can evaluate the authority of the holy books in Islam. I can explain the status and authority of these holy books.

Holy Books in Islam Qur’an Zabur (The Psalms) Injil (The Gospel) Rank the 4 holy books and the Qur’an in order of importance based on what you have learned this lesson. Qur’an Zabur (The Psalms) Injil (The Gospel) Tawrat (Torah) Scrolls of Abraham
