What is Backdrop? Facet5’s culture module It helps define both the ‘current state’ and the ‘ideal state; of organisational or team culture Combines a survey on how the organisation sees itself now and how it would like to be seen, with the personality data of those likely to lead the change, in order to understand how the transformation is likely to take place Informs decision making and action planning during any change process It identifies individual contributions to the culture change process as well as what the culture looks like now and for the future
Solving key business issues Backdrop provides organisations with insightful information on both its current-state and ideal-state culture, informing decision making and action planning during any change process. Backdrop helps organisations: Define the ‘current-state’ culture of the organisation using a common language from multiple view points Understand the strengths and challenges of the current culture to inform decision making, engagement & communication strategies Define the aspirational culture and the roles individuals will play in achieving it Develop relevant, informed change action plans to increase the likelihood of change success Understand individuals likely response to change, stress and pressure Understand how they can adapt to new markets and/or cultures
Backdrop Reports The Backdrop report delivers rich information to managers allowing them to effectively address culture change. It includes: Facet5 profiles of the team People and Culture: Maps individuals Facet5 scores to culture preferences Context: A summary of the current vs future culture and required shift Context – Factor Breakdown: Detailed data for each Facet5 factor and sub-factor on the current vs. ideal cultures Backdrop - Fit: Maps individuals to the future and current states Backdrop – Profile Comparison: Shows how closely aligned each team member is with the ‘now’ and ‘ideal’ templates.

Group Summary This page gives an overview of the facet5 factors and sub-factors scores and family type for each team member. Backdrops links to Facet5 data later in the process by predicting how each individual will respond to proposed changes
People and Culture The People and Culture page gives and overview of the Facet5 culture factors and how they map onto the Facet5 factors of Will, Energy, Affection and Control.
People and Culture continued. The People and Culture page continues by giving an overlay of the team or groups Facet5 profiles and mapping this to both Facet5 and the culture labels. Similarities and differences can be identified and gaps considered.
Context The context page of the report shows where the culture is now, the ideal culture and the distance between the two. This gives a sense of the scale of the changes to consider.
Context – Factor Breakdown This page gives the breakdown of the Factors and sub-factors and how individuals scored the organisational culture now and ideal. You can see the minimum, maximum scores and the range.
Backdrop - Fit This chart shows where the individuals in the team or groups would be best placed to be involved in the culture change process. In includes 4 categories: Transformer Change agent Anchor Non-aligned
Profile Comparison – “Now” and “Ideal” Template The comparisons take each team or group member and map them against the “now” template and the “ideal” template. This then shows who is the team/group is the closest fit to each template. The information and be used to add more detail to the Backdrop fit page and can help identify change champions.
