1915, Armenian Genocide The Ottoman Empire attempted to massacre 1.5 million minorities within its borders. Burning bodies was common Over 50,000 were drowned in the Black Sea Poisoned by using the blood of typhus victims. Bodies disposed of using lime.

Government Intervention? Bosnian Genocide Ethnic Cleansing campaign led by Bosnian Serbs against Bosniaks and Croats within the country. First official Genocide after the Holocaust, occurring between 1992-1995 Bosnian War. NATO would issue airstrikes in 1995 against Serbs, and the conflict would come to an end. Death toll varies between 8.500 (classified as genocide) Bill Clinton promised to end ethnic cleansing in his campaign. He responded here with NATO forces

2003-Present, Darfur There is a current Genocide occurring in the Darfur region of the Sudan. Sudanese military and Janjaweed vs. rebel groups. USA has labeled it genocide, UN does not agree. 400,000 killed from ethnic violence.

What is terrorism? This is an act of extremism to attempt to scare the public into submission. Car bombings, suicide bombers, and general terrorism is meant to publicize an extremist view. Remember, this is extremism, not the mainstream religious or ethnic groups.

Examples that have had a global impact Munich In 1972, 11 Israeli athletes were held hostage by Palestinian Terrorists known as “Black September” Constant issues between Israel and Palestinian countries. Egypt, Gaza Strip, West Bank.

9/11/01 First major terror attack of the 20th century. Muslim extremists hijacked airplanes and flew them into the WTC and Pentagon, with a fourth plane crashing in Pennsylvania. Worldwide impact includes the “war on terror” and subsequent invasion of Iraq.
