My Career Goals I want to become a Dietitian by 2023. To get there, I will need to: Graduate high school by June, 2019. Earn a bachelor’s degree in an approved program (Nutrition/Dietetics or Food and Nutrition management) by 2023 Complete an internship or practicum program to gain experience Complete a National Registration Exam with a passing grade My Career Goals

Assess people’s nutritional needs and design diets for people who are ill or obese Teach people about proper nutrition Do large-scale meal planning for hospitals and company cafeterias Help food companies create food products and nutrition labels What is a Dietitian?

Working in hospitals and other health care facilities, schools, social service and government agencies, non-profit organizations, food processing companies, and sports facilities. Some dietitians work as self-employed consultants. Salary: $35,000 - $75,000 8 hours a day, 5 days a week About my future career

The training/ education required for my career is: The first step to becoming a dietitian is to complete a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or nutrition that has been approved by the Dietitians of Canada (DC). Next, you must obtain practical experience in the field. This may be acquired through an internship or practicum program. These programs generally last about 40 weeks, and can be completed either while your bachelor’s degree is in progress, or after you’ve graduated. The internship or practicum program you complete must be approved by DC. In most provinces, the final step to becoming a dietitian is to earn a passing grade on the national registration exam. You can then register with your provincial regulatory body.  The training/ education required for my career is:

Here is where I can get that: Successful completion of a BC secondary program (Grade 12) or the equivalent Required courses when in the program Within the minimum 60 credits, students must complete: 6 credits of MATH which shall include at least one course (3 credits) in Calculus; a minimum of 36 credits of science, which shall include at least: 3 credits in a laboratory science; a minimum of 18 credits in science at the second-year level taken in two or more subject areas; 6 credits of first-year ENGL; 6 credits of first or second year arts other than ENGL (excluding MATH and laboratory-based science courses); a minimum of 6 credits of first or second year arts, science or other university-transfer courses. (Students may include university- transfer credit from career program and KINS and RECR course offerings); Here is where I can get that:
